FECCLAHA sponsored pre-referendum meeting and consultation targeting the Senior Clergy Consultative Forum (SCCF) was held on Wednesday 28th July, 2010. The objective of the one-day consultation was to bring to the Kenyan senior clergy together for a time of prayer and fellowship and to reflect on their role in the ongoing Constitutional Review Process, the Referendum slated for 4th August, 2010, and in maintaining unity of Kenya after the Referendum.

FECCLAHA was part of the observers Mission in Sudan having sent a team of 4 individuals with one observing in Juba, Southern Sudan and three in Khartoum, Northern Sudan. The observer mission took part in monitoring of the elections from the first day of voting and the first day of counting. The observers’ mission had the opportunity to observe about thirty polling stations.
The five day election period, in which the Sudanese people had the opportunity to take part in the Presidential and Parliamentary elections, were held from 11th April, 2010 to 15th April, 2010. This was after an extension from the original end date of 13th April, 2010. The election has three ballot boxes which consisted of Presidential, National Assembly, and State Assembly parties list.
FECCLAHA has supported CNEB in the holding of a national training of trainers’ workshop for a domestic ecumenical election observation team drawn from all the 17 provinces in the country. The workshop took place in Bujumbura, Burundi from 7th to 9th June 2010 and covered the following: the rationale for elections; the socio-political situation obtaining in the country; the electoral cycle; procedures in domestic election observation (short-term observation of voting operations and vote counting); the code of conduct for election observers; indicators of a free and fair election; the electoral law; and women and elections.

Fredskorpset Exchange (FKE) Programme Notes for Strategic Planning Meeting that took place on Friday, 12th March, 2010
The FK Exchange Programme 2009-2010 has come to an end with FECCLAHA having sent two participants Ms. Rosa Kihara and Ms. Nkatha Kagendo to Ethiopia Orthodox Church – Development Inter Church Action Commission (EOC-DICAC) and Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus (EECMY) respectively. FECCLAHA in turn hosted two participants: Ms. Nardos Chuta (EECMY) and Ms. Inguun Smoergrav (NCA/Headquarters).Guided by the theme ‘Peace and Gender in the Horn of Africa (PGHA)’, the participants had the opportunity to work on various projects in Ethiopia and Kenya.
As this round comes to an end, there was a Strategic planning meeting that took place on 12th March, 2010 in Nairobi, Kenya. The strategic meeting was held to plan for the upcoming third round of exchange which is scheduled to take place on 2010-2011. The theme that will inform this exchange is “Women, Peace, and Security” with a focus on Protection, Participation, and Prevention. This round of exchange will include Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and Kenya.
Fredskorpset Exchange Programme supports the exchange or personnel among different organizations in different countries within the framework of institutional cooperation. It is a governmental body under the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA). It has its regional offices in Norway, Thailand, Zambia, and Uganda. The aim of the exchange is to facilitate transfer of competence between partners, learning within the partnership at the organizational and individual level, and facilitate for increased knowledge and interest in North-South issues.
